The Heath

“The space can get a bit cramped, but the atmosphere is a groovy mix of big band/jazzy tunes, and well-lit intimacy.”

“It's been a full week and I'm still daydreaming about my experience at The Heath and Sleep No More.”

“Started with the Duck Toast (duck paté on crostinis) and Mini Pork Pies (for my Hispanic peeps, think a pastelito with minced pork in it).”

  1. 4.5 stars.
Ambience: Spectacular. perfect for date night or girls night out.  Live music is a huge plus.  I was amazed at how friendly every single person we encountered was. From the bouncers at Gallow Green to our waitress, even the singer made a special trip to our table to just chat it up.  Amazing.

    What we ordered:
Roasted Amish Chicken – meh. Good, but nothing special about it.  I'd probably go for something else if you are looking for a lot of flavor.

Fish and Chips – Fries/ tartar sauce are the real stars of this dish. Fish was also very tasty and had a nice crisp to it.

Wild Mushroom Pasta – solid option if you like mushrooms and are craving pasta.

Shaved brussell sprout salad – GET THIS!! very tasty and flavorful

Heathen Fries – comes with tartar sauce.  GET THIS TOO!! Also cool presentation

Warm Goat Cheese – served over a bed of potatoes.  Very filling but good dish to share

Winter Green salad – nice presentation but totally lacking on flavor.  skip this dish.

Bread Pudding  and Warm Chocolate Cake – GET THESE!! You won't regret it.

  2. Just celebrated my 30th birthday at the Heath last night and they made the experience amazing.  We were a group of 16 which is always a bit stressful to plan but the Heath made it so easy. From the second I called last month to make the reservation I automatically relaxed and was excited.  The man that made my reservation was so lovely and excited and calming, as opposed to so many other businesses that had ludicrous minimums and rude event planners.

We all met at the Gallow Green first which is a lush and gorgeous rooftop.  Beautiful place to gather, chat, and take some lovely pictures.

Then down to the Heath where you are transported to a different era.  The only word I can use to describe the ambience and set up is SEXY.  The red curtains, dim twinkle lights, and sultry jazz singers make it feel like you are really in another world.  The crowd was also a great mix of attractive interesting people.
The pre-fixe is limited but food was delicious!! The only thing I don't recommend is the strawberry shortcake, too dry.

Note! They have private rooms for large parties separate from the main jazz room but I do not recommend those, request to have your table in the main dining room.

I had such a great time and it was the best way to ring in my 30s, by going back to the 1920s.

Thank you to the Heath !

  3. Atmosphere was amazing. Loved the decor and the live jazz music was incredible. Vibe was friendly and open. Shared three dishes: Winter Salad, Shaved Brussel Sprouts Salad, Fish & Chips. The Shaved Brussel Sprouts Salas was flavorful and delicious. The Winter Salad was nicely dressed. The Fish & Chips were okay: the fries were a bit over-salted and the fish lacked a bit of flavor. Overall, great experience.

  4. GREAT cocktail bar.

Friday night, reservation of 12, sounds chaotic right? Nah, our night went super smooth — much like our drinks!

Since we had plans on going out, we opted for the dinner menu instead of the prix fixe ($50/pp) Between all of us, we gladly shared several charcuterie and cheese boards, nibbled on the PEI mussels and mini pork pies and…that was it!

Loved the live soft jazz! Made for a cool yet modern and relaxed yet glamorous atmosphere — I dig it!

Plates and drinks are on the pricier side, so act accordingly. Can't wait to come back and see Sleep No More!

  5. Came here for a secret show, so my experience was probably a lot better than it could've been. The place is more like a jazz lounge than a music venue, as the stage is just a foot off the ground and there are comfy booths all around. The bar is pretty sizable and the bartenders were great/friendly (especially for the open bar we had going on). They have great beers available. Also, the bathroom is top notch. It's like one of those old school sophisticated johns.

  6. Ok, at first i looked at the photos on yelp and thought this place was going to be dingy… but na-ah… very classy place with awesome decor and man the vibe hits the 30's spot right on!!! I loved this place and will definitely go again for the ambience, the drinks (the old-fashioned, the ginger martini were awesome) and the experience!!

  7. Ahhh, my soul definitely felt at home. I went back in time as I first stepped into The Heath. It felt beautiful. The atmosphere was just amazing! Live jazz music accompanying my dinner, with nice string lights and an amazing date…. What more can I ask for?!

Besides the amazing atmosphere, I was not utterly impressed with the food. First off, I checked the website beforehand and saw that there were two different pre-fixe menus… One on the link when you buy your Sleep No More tickets, and one when you click the menu for The Heath. So, I called and asked which was their recent menu. It was the one in The Heath page. So I skimmed beforehand and saw two entrees that I was debating on getting, either the Lamb or Veal entree.

Once I arrived, our server mentioned that the Catch of the Day was not available. Okay cool,
not a problem. However, while looking at the menu, the Veal entree and the Lamb entree were gone. So I asked the server about that, and she said they just changed their menu. I was kind of bummed. We started with the Tuna Crudo appetizer, and it was light and good to the palette. My fiancé was going to order Fish&Chips for his main, until the server reminded us there was no fish… So basically there were only three options for entrees. I ended up getting the Dry-aged NY Strip and fiancé got the Amish Chicken. The vegetables in my dish were good, but the NY Strip was okay. Nothing too special about it. His food was just okay too. However, the dessert was amazing! Chocolate Budino and the Apple Bread Pudding should get married and make babies because both of them together is delicious! You won't regret!

I may not come back until they add more options to the menu…. Or maybe get myself some dessert. The stars are more for the atmosphere of the place. The food could be a little better, but was still a good experience.

  8. Beautiful atmosphere and wonderful music.  The whole experience of this place takes you away to some other world.

The setup of the venue is very nicely done.  Everything from the elevator attendant to the lighting at the bar was well thought out.

The service was excellent from the check in all the way to the end.  I only stayed for drinks and music, but the staff was completely accommodating with that.

The cocktails themselves weren't overly spectacular, especially considering the fact that they were ~$17 a pop.  However, I am pretty picky when it comes to cocktails.

The jazz was pretty good.  Not overly loud even though I was sitting pretty much next to the stage.  After 11 pm, jazz ended the the stage became more of a fairly classy cabaret show.

    Will definitely recommend.
