  1. This place has become one of my favorite go to's in the Chelsea neighborhood. It has a fantastic laid back – candlelit vibe – and the staff provides absolute stellar service. Richard behind the bar always provides excellent wine & food pairing reco's whenever I swing by. Also love how the menu changes with the seasons – very special!

  2. I've previously been to Trestle on Tenth for dinner and enjoyed it.  Yesterday, I stopped over for lunch with a friend.  We ordered a couple of cappuccinos while we waited for noon (lunch to begin).  Cappuccinos were excellent! We ordered Charcuterie board with  cured pork belly, air dried speck, and bucheron.  Lovely!  The meats were just so very good! The cheese wasn't bad either.  We then ordered a crab cake sandwich to share and steak tartar with quail egg.  The steak tartar was delicious – no complains.  The crab cake was a bit over done and the "done-ness" of it simply took away from the flavor of the crab cake itself.  Overall, not a bad experience and we may possibly come back (the steak tartar is worth it).

  3. This is one of the best restaurants I have eaten at in NY and I've been eating in NYC for over twenty years.  We came on a quiet Thursday afternoon at 330. Perfect. They served incredible small plates and an extensive drink menu. I got hot apple cider which was fabulous. I soon discovered the chef grew up on a hog farm … I need to investigate this further however the fact that all the food was extremely fresh and well selected, well seasoned and delicious seemed to be no coincidence. It was clearly prepared by one with great passion, skill, and vision ….. And someone who knows his ingredients only as well as a farmer could. We ordered the chicken broth soup which was delectable with delicate mushrooms  and pork. The eggplant was outstanding and light, the best pickles I ever ate, and the butter and bread was some of the best I ever ate… (And butter and bread is something I take seriously …. all I brought back from Paris for myself was 4 sticks of butter).  We also ordered a German like Spetzle that was so good I nearly cried. Then I realized the French and Germanic influences of the food came from the French Swiss origins of the chef. I has never had French Swiss food. Of course!!!! I cannot wait to return for breakfast and dinner and to try the pulled pork sandwich of the sister resto Rocket Pig.

  4. Nice decor and interesting menu. I got the calve's liver but didn't like it much. It tasted "creamy" and the potatoes served with it (hash brown) were extremely salty. Compensated with dessert (peanut butter sundae) which was good. We shared it with my friends who were luckier with their order (pork loin and scallops). The pork loin and potato gratin was probably the best dish.

  5. Fiance and I came here on a Thurs. night around 9pm.  We live in the nabe and have always wanted to try it- particularly hearing good things about their side corner sister resto, Rocket Pig.  Unfortunately, Tresle on Tenth wasn't as good as we were expecting. It wasn't bad but it wasn't remarkable either.  They were also very understaffed, meaning that the entire pace of the dinner was sloooow. Not fun if you're hungry. At the same time, the staff works incredibly hard so I kudos them for that. Our waitress tried her best and made great recommendations.

We started off with the buttermilk bacon and butter lettuce dressing which was fresh, and plentiful. They kindly split the salad into two – the pancetta was very good.  I then had the scallops which came with fava beans , asparagus in a roasted red pepper coulis. Very tasty and light. I have had better seared scallops though.

The Mr had the roasted pork tenderloin, and being that pork is there thing, perhaps had higher expectations.  Some pieces I tried were a little dry.  Though, I think the portion was good and the mix in of other worldly ingredients (the bok choy, mashed potatoes) were a good addition.

They brought out some house bread which were really good slices of Italian (?) bread basket bread but the butter was hard/cold.  Oh well.  The best part was the dessert. This was a four star.  It was a really yummy sundae consisting of high quality vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, cherry syrup, cherry and ginger strusel which added a nice touch of zest.  A little pricey at $10 but a good portion and worth it.

Dinner came to $40 per person. We sat inside which was nice but I would suggest trying to get a res or wait for the garden out back which is such a nice touch.

  6. Couple of friends came here thinking it was the Rocket Pig. Mistakenly. We sat expecting to get some good o sammiches ! But we soon discovered it was not the place of sorts. We sat down giving it a try. This place has a very dinner date atmosphere. While the summer is still here. I recommend you to sit outside. It's a cozy little nook. The food was quite exquisite. There wasn't any dish that was displeasing. I recommend the Smoked And Roasted Pork Loin or Coriander Studded Hanger Steak. Parking isn't hard to find after 7pm.

  7. I visited Trestle on Tenth as part of their annual Metzgete event after hearing about it at their adjacent "Rocket Pig" (highly recommended!) outpost.

I was hopeful that since Rocket Pig was so good that Trestle on Tenth would be as well.  I was disappointed.

After placing our orders, we were given some delicious sourdough bread.  Loved it.

Wait for the food was exceedingly long.  Not sure why on earth it took so long when the place was not crowded at all.

Three of us ordered a metzgete sampler type plate.  It came out with four sausages, some pork belly, sauerkraut, and mashed potatoes.  Three of use were given sides of mustard, applesauce, and creme to share.

Two of the sausages were decent, not fantastic but good enough.  A third was blood sausage which I can't stomach, so I can't comment on that (though my friend said it wasn't the best).  The fourth sausage, appeared as a weisswurst but I don't know what this restaurant would call it, was odd.  Within the casing it was completely crumbly – generally a sign that not enough of fat has been included in the meat.  It was also very mushy.  Couldn't eat it.

The pork belly was supple, but even fattier than it generally is.

The mashed potatoes were good in flavor though runny.

The fourth person in our party ordered a piece of pork (a chop?) and it was very good, much better than the entree that the rest of us ordered.  If I could go back in time, I'd change my order.

Overall I loved the idea of a metzgete as advertised, but it didn't live up to expectaions, sadly.

  8. A friend took me here as a post Christmas Christmas present and we had a great experience.

Get the cheese and meat plate and let the chef choose. We said that we liked stinky cheese and they delivered a perfect selection of very different varieties that went together perfectly.

The duck was delicious (again we asked the chef to choose the temp which of course was medium rare) and the pizokel is definitely worth trying.

The waiter was attentive and friendly. He had informed answers to all of our questions and was enthusiastic about our choices. He was just a likable guy and it came through in his service.
